Head lice do not jump or fly. Head lice live only on human beings and can be transmitted by direct contact with people who have head lice when direct hair to air contact occurs. Only in very rare cases they are transmitted by inanimate objects such as combs, hats, clothing or bedding. The spread of lice does not have to do with cleanliness or hygiene, and any child or adult who is exposed can get head lice. Notify your child’s teacher or school nurse if your child has head lice, and don’t forget to also inform other close contact persons.
